A sign of the times

I received this image in a forwarded email today and thought that it was a wonderful sign of the times.

IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.

THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED THIS WEEK ON THE IDAHO / WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR.

CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20.000 FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

Thanks for the beautiful photo; I've never seen this before. I also have looked into the "halo" effect, which occurs at 21 degrees above the horizon. This is when you can see "phantom suns"; several suns in the sky, also an effect of ice crystals. Living in Alaska is like a laboratory for interesting celestial phenomenon.
